What BPD often feels like from the inside
Emotions that swing hard and fast. Relationships that feel wonderful and then terrifying. A fear of being abandoned that can push away the very people you want closest. Impulsive choices you regret. A sense of emptiness, or of not really knowing who you are. Many people with borderline personality disorder also carry a history of trauma or of growing up in an environment where their feelings were not safe to have.
None of this makes you broken. It makes you someone whose nervous system learned to protect you in ways that now cause pain. That can be unlearned, and it is unlearned inside a relationship that stays.
My approach to BPD counseling
Consistency is the medicine. I show up the same way every week: calm, honest, and on your side. Within that stability we work on understanding the parts of you that react so strongly, using Internal Family Systems, and on building concrete skills for riding out intense emotions without doing something you will regret. We also look at the beliefs about yourself and about relationships that formed early and still run the show.
I am direct with you when it helps, and I will never shame you. Progress with BPD is real and I have seen it many times.
Family members and partners
Loving someone with BPD can be exhausting and confusing. If you are a spouse, parent, or partner looking for guidance and support, I also offer family counseling and conflict resolution sessions that can help everyone in the relationship find steadier ground.
