What faith based counseling means here
It means your faith is not a problem to be worked around. It is a resource, and often a central part of who you are. If you want to pray at the start of a session, we can. If you want to bring Scripture into how we think about your anxiety, your marriage, or your grief, we can. If you are wrestling with doubt, with a church that hurt you, or with a God who feels far away, that is welcome here too.
It also means you get real, evidence based counseling. Faith and good clinical care are not in competition. I use Internal Family Systems, Coherence Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, and I integrate them with a Christian understanding of the person when that is what you want.
My background
Before I became a licensed professional counselor I spent decades in pastoral ministry. I earned a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and later a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have walked with people through grief, addiction, marriage crisis, faith crisis, and trauma from both the pastoral side and the clinical side. I know the language of the church, and I know what it looks like when the church has been part of the wound.
For those who are not religious
You are welcome here too. I never impose faith on anyone. If you found this page because you were looking for a counselor and this is simply the one nearest you in Central Point, you will receive the same compassionate, professional care with no religious agenda.
